Wrestler of the Month
Daniel Crosby - Greeneville High School

Daniel Crosby, a senior at Greenville High School is currently ranked the #1 heavyweight in Tennessee. Humility belies this soft-spoken powerhouse who has dominated his weight class on both the scholastic and freestyle mats for the past 3 years. The reigning TSSAA state Champion was recently ranked #16 in the Nation in the "Brute/NWCA" rankings. He highlighted his current record of 74-0 with championship wins in both the McCallie and Ryan Invitational tournaments. Daniel is Fargo bound with Team Tennessee in July and we expect he will bring home some heavy hardware.
Coach of the Month
William Richardson - Westside High School

Coach William Richardson’s commitment to his wrestling team has been unrelenting since 1995 when he reactivated the formerly abandoned program at WESTSIDE HIGH SCHOOL in Memphis, Tennessee with a 20-year old mat and no money. He proudly stated that he has now acquired a second 20-year-old mat, and did manage to have that first one resurfaced. He has single handedly built a solid program on a ‘shoe-string’ budget for this inner city school. In 1998, Courtney Guy was his first state finalist and last year he had two TSSAA – Division I place finishers. This season his team won the "Trojan Wars" at Millington, had 2 champions in the 2002 "Black Horse" Invitational (Leavy Davis and Anthony Evans) and most recently they decorated a Champion at the Ryan Invitational (Davis at 189/lbs.) where the team placed 16th out of a field of 37 teams by edging out Knoxville Karnes for the spot by 1.5 points. During each of his team's matches, Coach Richardson does double duty from his corner of the mat. He snaps photos of his athletes, while coaching their matches. Why? ... HE PERSONALLY makes a photo album for every member of the team every year. Why? ... He is committed to making their participation on his team memorable.
